Ex-guitarist of Paramore reveals reason of leaving the band to be his Christian faith

8:22 AM Blogger Serabutan 1 Comments

Paramore, formed in 2004, generally dismisses being categorized as a Christian band, but Farro recently stated that the band’s roots are Christian. Unfortunately, the band decided to record some compromising songs for their album Brand New Eyes.

Farro told Common Revolt, a music website, this week, “Paramore claimed to be a Christian band, and then wrote those lyrics. It contradicts your faith.”

He was speaking about the lyrics to the song “Careful,” which include “the truth never set me free, so I did it myself.”

According to Farro, Paramore’s lead singer, Hayley Williams, “always said it was meant to be ‘your truth never set me free.’”

“But you know, if it was meant to be that, then why was it changed? It’s kind of a sorry excuse. It bummed me out, and obviously one of many reasons me and Zac walked away.”

Paramore is a chart-topping rock band that has been nominated for three Grammys. While the Farro brothers were two founding members of the band, they decided to split from the five-member group. An announcement in December revealed that the two made the decision to leave a few months prior.

“None of us were really shocked. For the last year it hasn't seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore,” Paramore said in its statement at the time.

As Farro mentioned, faith likely played a big role. Williams and bassist Jeremy Davis said in an interview with Fuse.tv earlier this year that they used to attend church every week but as soon as they started touring and playing shows on Sundays, their churchgoing was no longer regular.

“It’s really weird how much everything changed once we started touring,” Williams said. “I remember spending one Easter Sunday at Hooters … and it’s just because your life on tour, you don’t remember what day it is.”

She maintained that Jesus and God is still important to her and the rest of the band and that they pray before every show.

In terms of infusing her faith into her songs, Williams indicated that she avoided that.

“It’s not our job to teach people,” she told Fuse.tv. “I think that what we believe will most likely always shape our opinions and our thoughts but it’s not our goal to write that down and spread it for everyone to learn from.

“It’s not my job to tell them if it’s right or not … we can only deal with our own hearts.”

Farro revealed in a separate interview with MTV that he and Williams disagreed on a lot of things. But he doesn’t want to turn the band breakup into a huge drama or dwell on it and stressed that he and his brother are focusing on the future.

The Farro brothers are currently working on a new band, Novel American. While the band is in its early stages, they hope to come out with an EP soon.

“This time next year I think it’ll look like us touring, hopefully supporting an EP. I’m hoping that we’ll maybe even have a full length out by then,” said Josh Farro.

Putting the past behind, he also stressed to Common Revolt, “We couldn’t be happier where we are right now.”

Religion Contributed To Farro Departure From Paramore

8:19 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

Former Paramore guitarist Josh Farro has finally spoken out about his and his brother Zac's departure from the group. The pair left during the height of the band's fame, with their faith serving as a key reason for calling it quits.

The Paramore tune "Careful" serves as an example of the conflict. In the song, frontwoman Hayley Williams croons, "The truth never set me free, so I did it myself."

Farro tells Common Revolt, "Paramore claimed to be a Christian band, and then wrote those lyrics. It contradicts your faith."

Farro adds, "Hayley always said it was meant to be 'Your truth never set me free,' but you know, if it was meant to be that, then why was it changed? It's kind of a sorry excuse. It bummed me out, and obviously one of many reasons me and Zac walked away. We couldn't be happier where we are right now."

Josh and Zac both left the group back in December, six years after the group got their start.

Ex-Paramore guitarist says lyric change was key

8:16 AM Blogger Serabutan 1 Comments

Josh Farro, formerly of Paramore, has revealed that changes to a song lyric contributed to his decision to leave the band with his brother Zac.

The track in question is the group's 2010 single Careful and Josh claimed the alteration to the song contradicted his faith, since he sees Paramore as a Christian act.

He told Common Revolt: "Hayley [Williams, singer] always said it was meant to be 'Your truth never set me free', but you know. If it was meant to be that, then why was it changed?"

In the finished version of the tune, the line reads 'The truth never set me free, so I did it myself'.

The guitarist, who is now working on his new band Novel American, explained that this issue was one of the many reasons why he and Zac felt they should leave.

Paramore are reportedly recording their next album with producer Rob Cavallo.

William's Conflict Over Cosmo Cover

9:05 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams had mixed feelings about posing for the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine after spending years trying to avoid the spotlight at the start of her career.

The rocker hesitated before agreeing to be the publication's cover girl because she hasn't always felt comfortable embracing her sexy side.

But after donning a glamorous dress for her solo shoot, Williams insists she's embracing her "powerful female" role.

In a post on the band's blog, the star writes, "I wanna talk about the Cosmo cover... as much as I tell myself I don't care and I wear whatever I want... there will always be those moments when I'm at the check out line at (U.S. retailer) Target and I see some gorgeous person on the cover of any ol (sic) rag... and I'm like 'Ugh, is that how it's gotta be!?' only to realise that... next month, that girl on the cover is gonna be me. What a hypocrite right?!?!

"Noooo. Here's the thing. My #1 (number one) goal when the band began was to make myself invisible... I've turned down a lot of magazine covers. I specifically remember turning down Blender mag when I turned 19. No one ever knew. It never made people focus on me any less... So this time I'm taking a different approach. All three of us in Paramore have our own roles. And finally I will accept mine. I'm going to be okay with being a 'powerful female'. I'm going to use that role to make a difference."

The singer admits the experience was liberating, and she hopes the cover will inspire her fans to feel good about themselves, too.

She adds, "I'm hoping that the more a magazine will take a chance on a girl like me, the more a girl will have a frickin chance in hell to be unique, powerful, strong in her weaknesses, confident in her flaws."

Paramore Start New Album

Paramore have started recording new material for the first time since the Farro brothers left the band last year.

Paramore have begun recording new material.

The 'Ignorance' group's frontwoman, Hayley Williams - who has recently steered the band through a bitter split from guitarist and drummer brothers Josh and Zac Farro - revealed the remaining members of the band, which also includes Taylor York and Jeremy Davis, are working on a "couple" of new songs at a recording studio in Los Angeles.

She wrote on twitter: "Just got a call from Taylor.

"He and [Davis] just touched down in Los Angeles! We're recording a couple new songs this week (sic)!"

It will be the first time the band have prepared new material since the Farro brothers quit last December, but despite this setback, Hayley has previously revealed the group are preparing to tour and play new music this summer.

She said: "We are going to go to South America to do a tour, and then when we get back, we're hoping to record a batch of songs to release over the summer.

"All the details aren't worked out yet, but we definitely do want to release our new track 'In the Mourning' and some other ones before we put out a record."

The Farro brothers are now in new band Novel American together. They quit after claiming they were "always treated as less important" than singer Hayley, and claiming she wrote "negative" lyrics.

Josh Farro & Kerrang! Battle Over 'Misquote'

8:58 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

Former Paramore star Josh Farro and the editors of British rock magazine Kerrang! have entered into a war of words after the guitarist accused them of misquoting him in a new article.

The rocker has denied saying he doesn't miss being in the band in a new interview, but the publication's bosses insist they have him on tape saying just that.

In an angry tweet on Wednesday (09Mar11), Farro, who quit the band at the end of 2010, wrote, "The words 'I don't miss Paramore one bit' Never came out of my mouth."

The Kerrang! editors fired back, "We've got the interview on tape. If you'd like to hear it back we can post it online," which prompted Farro to respond, "Psalm 9" - a reference to a biblical passage about righteousness.

Farro Loves Life After Paramore

8:56 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

Rocker Josh Farro is delighted he quit Paramore last year (10) because life away from the band is "great".

The guitarist and his brother, drummer Zac, walked out on the rock group after a show in December (10), blaming their tense relationship with frontwoman Hayley Williams.

He now admits the seeds of the siblings' departure were sewn when he stopped dating Williams in 2007 - and he's confessed he hasn't spoken to her, guitarist Taylor York, or bassist Jeremy Davis since quitting.

Farro tells Kerrang! magazine, "I don't think that'll (speaking to his former bandmates) happen for a while. I hope that one day we can reconcile, but I really don't care to be in some war with them. Whatever.

"It's still fresh (but) I don't think I miss it at all. I don't miss it one bit. That's just being completely honest.

"It's been nice to unwind! (There's been) drama, but some of that's inevitable. But other than that, it's been great."

Asked if life in the band was hard after he and Williams ended their romance, he replies, "For a while. It was weird more than anything. We were good friends before that and people change. We were becoming more and more distant."

Hayley Williams - Ex-Paramore Brothers To Play Again

Ex-Paramore drummer Zac Farro has joined brother and former bandmate Josh in his new band, Novel American, replacing Tyler Ward.

Ex-Paramore drummer Zac Farro has joined brother and former bandmate Josh's new band Novel American.

The siblings both left the 'Playing God' rockers last year, complaining at how they were treated in comparison to lead singer Hayley Williams, and now drummer Zac has decided to join guitarist Josh in his new band, replacing Tyler Ward.

Writing on the band's official blog Novelamerican.tumblr.com, Tyler said: "I've decided to step away from Novel American and support them from a friendship level.

"But it turns out that the guy filling my seat happens to be an incredible drummer with an even more incredible heart. So please help me officially welcome as the new drummer of Novel American, Zac Farro!"

Josh initially recruited some of his friends to appear in the group even though the experience with Paramore had made him wary of continuing in the music industry.

He said: "Basically, I met these guys in high school, and we got together after the whole Paramore thing, and I was like, 'I don't know if I want to be in another band.'

"But I called the guys, we got together, we wrote and we jammed, and it was great, so we decided, 'Let's do another band.' And, honestly, I had some ideas that just didn't fit with Paramore, and I said, 'Guys, we can try these,' and they just loved them, and so that's really how it all started."

Frontwoman Hayley Williams told website aol music: "We are going to go to South America to do a tour, and then when we get back, we're hoping to record a batch of songs to release over the summer.

Hayley and Taylor have previously released a demo clip of them performing part of 'In The Mourning', but Hayley assured it's lighter tones aren't representative of all the new material which the group has been working on.

She said: "It's not a great indication of all the songs. Just maybe a good indication of the growth we're experiencing right now. There will definitely be some heavy songs on there."

Meanwhile, producer Rob Cavallo - who worked on the band's breakthrough album 'Brand New Eyes' , claims he thinks the new line up has given them "extra motivation".

He said: "I'm really proud that they chose me to do this transition and when I heard the first demos, I was absolutely blown away. It's definitely extra motivation."

Chris Clark - Ex-Paramore Guitarist Announces New Band

8:45 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

Josh Farro has started a new band, Novel America, his first musical outfit since quitting rock group Paramore.

Ex-Paramore guitarist Josh Farro has started a new band called Novel American.

The 23 year old has recruited some of his school friends to appear in the group, even though he was initially wary about continuing in the music business after his bitter split from his last band.

Josh - who is working with Van Beasley, Tyler Ward and Ryan Clark in Novel American - said: "Basically, I met these guys in high school, and we got together after the whole Paramore thing, and I was like, 'I don't know if I want to be in another band.'

Discussing the title of the group, Josh - who once dated Paramore singer Hayley Williams - admits it came from his wife of nine months, Jenna Rice.

He said: "My wife came up with the band name, because we were going through quite a long list - it got to the point where it was consuming our minds, because it was exciting - and she was like, 'What about Novel American?' Because the definition means 'Of a new kind, or something that hasn't been seen or heard before.' And I think that kind of describes us."

Josh left Paramore at the same time as his brother, Zac, and they have both subsequently claimed part of the reason was because they were treated badly in comparison to the lead singer.

In a blog posted in December, they wrote: "We've always been treated as less important than Hayley. Things changed and this band became all about Hayley."

Williams' Lyrics Inspired By Farro Tensions

8:41 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

PARAMORE star HAYLEY WILLIAMS has revealed the lyrics she wrote for band's last album were inspired by her awkward relationship with departed bandmate JOSH FARRO.

Farro and his brother Zac quit last month (Dec10), stating they were sick of being Williams' backing group, and now the singer has revealed the breakdown of her relationship with the siblings sparked a creative process on 2009's Brand New Eyes.

In an interview with MTV News, Williams says, "I would say that a large majority of those songs have to do with the relationship we had and then that we had to mend.

"It was really hard, because we were friends, and then going through a break-up and going through any kind of tension as a band really affected all the lyrics. There are a lot of specifics that I pulled from my experience with just feeling like my face was underneath a boot all the time."

And Williams, who wrote about being wrongly judged in songs such as Playing God and Ignorance, insists she penned the tracks to help female fans who are victimised by those closest to them.

She adds, "I think the point of the album was never to point out those things, but hopefully to encourage people who feel that way. Because I felt so alone in that fight, that I would never want, especially another young woman, to feel that way, because I know there are a lot of girls I've talked to, fans, go through the same thing in relationships and families, and it just sucks to feel kind of victimised."

Hayley Williams - Hayley Williams Hurt By Former Bandmates' Attack

8:35 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

Paramore singer Hayley Williams has admitted she was hurt and surprised after ex-bandmates Josh and Zac Farro criticised her when they left the band.

Hayley Williams was "hurt" after being blasted by her ex-bandmates for making Paramore "all about her".

The 'Playing God' singer admitted negative comments by brothers Josh and Zac Farro - who left the band last month - surprised her because she thought their departure was amicable.

Responding to the brothers' claims they were "always treated as less important", Hayley said: "I don't know if I got a phone call or an e-mail, but I woke up to it, basically, and that sucked, and I was not happy. And yeah, it hurts, because what we were told was that they weren't happy, they didn't want to do this, and you can't be mad at someone for not feeling something.

"But then when it really became about all these other things, I was very surprised and kind of felt led on, almost. We've been doing this for six, seven years now. I don't think any of this has been in vain, for any of us ... and I don't think anyone should discredit it."

Guitarist Taylor York also admitted he was uncomfortable with Josh and Zac's claims.

He added to MTV News: "It was really hard to read, just because it seemed like a lot of the stuff was pretty irrelevant to what happened. I think that was the weird thing, 'cause it just didn't seem really necessary."

However Hayley - who dated Josh from 2005 to 2007 - said she, Taylor and bassist Jeremy Davis are determined to put the controversy behind them and will now focus on making the band better than ever.

She said: "You feel every single type of emotion possible when something like this happens with someone that either was - or is - very close to you, you just feel everything, all at once. I've never felt so... I don't know, I couldn't even figure out how I felt.

"But you've just got to know that what's important is the three of us are still here, and that we want to do this, and that's the positive part about this."

Hayley Williams - Williams Blasts Paramore Break-Up Rumours

8:33 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

HAYLEY WILLIAMS has slammed reports PARAMORE are heading for a split following the departure of bandmembers JOSH and ZAC FARRO, insisting the group is "not going anywhere".

The Farro siblings left last month (Dec10) and accused Williams of taking over and causing tensions within the band. Paramore has now temporarily drafted in A Perfect Circle star John Freese and Justin York to take their places.

The departures sparked speculation Paramore's future is in doubt, but Williams has brushed off the reports, telling MTV News, "There's been a lot of things said online, especially in the past week, and it sucks... It sucks to read it, and it also sucks to know that responding isn't really going to help online, because things travel so terribly on the internet.

"So we really wanted the opportunity to show our fans that we're okay, you know? The three of us are still here, we're not going anywhere. A lot of kids are still asking if the band is breaking up, and that just goes to show how broken the communication online can be, when rumours start travelling. So this is our way of showing that there's a future and we're stoked for it."

And the frontwoman has opened up about the Farros, insisting she's upset it didn't work out: "I don't know if I got a phone call or an email, but I woke up to it, basically, and that sucked, and I was not happy. And yeah, it hurts, because what we were told was that they weren't happy, they didn't want to do this, and you can't be mad at someone for not feeling something. But then when it really became about all these other things, I was very surprised and kind of felt led on, almost. We've been doing this for six, seven years now. I don't think any of this has been in vain, for any of us... and I don't think anyone should discredit it."

Freese & York To Replace Farro Brothers In Paramore

8:30 AM Blogger Serabutan 0 Comments

A PERFECT CIRCLE star JOSH FREESE has signed up to temporarily replace ZAC FARRO in PARAMORE as the band plans a South American tour.

The drummer and band regular Taylor York's brother Justin have been drafted in to take over from the Farro brothers, Zac and Josh, who quit the group late last year (10).

The Farro siblings, who founded the group with singer Hayley Williams and bassist Jeremy Davis in 2004, left the band after a show in Orlando, Florida on 12 December (10), citing ongoing tensions between them, the frontwoman and management officials for the break-up.

In a tweet to fans, Williams is keen to make it clear that neither Freese nor York will become full-time members of the band: "(They're) just helping us for the South American tour."

The concerts begin with a date in Brazil in February (11).
